Summary
RupeeNexa is an offline-first personal finance app. Your financial records are stored only on your phone, in an encrypted database. RupeeNexa has no account system, no cloud sync and no server that receives your financial data. We never ask for bank passwords, UPI PINs or card PINs.
Data stored on your device
Accounts, balances, transactions, categories, budgets, bills, udhaar records, reconciliation history and settings you create. This data is encrypted at rest with SQLite3MultipleCiphers using a 256-bit key protected by the Android Keystore. It is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
SMS access (SMS edition only)
If you choose to turn on SMS tracking, RupeeNexa requests READ_SMS and RECEIVE_SMS permissions to detect bank and card transaction alerts and record them as transactions. Messages are processed only on your phone. Messages from phone numbers, OTPs, promotional and other unrelated messages are ignored and not stored. Financial alerts are kept, encrypted, only as long as needed for your review; by default their text is deleted once you decide on them, keeping only the extracted transaction details. SMS data is never uploaded, shared, sold or used for advertising. You can turn SMS tracking off at any time, which immediately stops reading new messages, and separately delete all imported SMS data. The Manual edition of RupeeNexa does not request or use SMS permissions.
Advertising
RupeeNexa shows ads using Google Mobile Ads: small native ads on a few non-sensitive screens (Home, Reports, Calendar) and, occasionally, a full-screen ad after you finish a task and return to a browsing screen. Ads are never shown on SMS, transaction entry, review, security, backup or data-deletion screens, and never while the app is locked. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, app interactions and diagnostics to serve, measure and personalise ads, subject to your consent choices collected through Google's User Messaging Platform. RupeeNexa never passes your financial data, merchant names, amounts or SMS content to the ad SDK. You can change ad privacy choices in Settings when required in your region.
Notifications
Reminders for bills, budgets and udhaar are scheduled locally on your device. By default notification content is hidden on the lock screen.
Backups and exports
Backups are created only when you ask, encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a password you choose (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 key derivation with a random salt) and saved where you choose using the Android file picker. We never see or store your backup password. CSV and PDF exports are not encrypted; store them safely.
Security
You can protect RupeeNexa with a PIN and fingerprint/face unlock. Screen content can be hidden from recent apps and screenshots.
Data deletion
You can delete imported SMS data, or all local data, at any time from the app (Settings → Security & backup → Delete all local data). Uninstalling the app also removes all its data from your device. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server.
Children
RupeeNexa is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change and significant changes will be shown in the app.
