The short version. Image Effect edits your photos entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We have no servers that store your images, the app has no account or sign-up, and we cannot see what you edit.
The one thing that does leave your device is advertising data, handled by Google AdMob, which is how the app is funded. That is described in full below.
1. Information we do not collect
We want to be specific, because for a photo editor this is the part that matters most:
- Your photos and videos. Every edit — filters, effects, background removal, collage, text, drawing and Edit Replay video rendering — runs locally on your device. No image or video you open, edit or export is transmitted to Novaradix Technology or to any third party.
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address. The app has no sign-up, no login and no user accounts.
- Your contacts, calendar, call logs, SMS or microphone. The app does not request or access any of these.
- Precise (GPS) location. The app does not request location permission.
- Analytics or crash-reporting profiles. The app contains no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. We do not track how you use the app.
2. Information collected by advertising
Image Effect is free and supported by advertising through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google's advertising SDK — not Novaradix Technology — may collect and process:
- Your device's Advertising ID (a resettable identifier)
- Device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen characteristics
- Network information, including your IP address, from which an approximate (city or region level) location may be inferred
- Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown, viewed or clicked
This data is used to select ads, limit how often the same ad is repeated, measure ad performance, and detect invalid or fraudulent traffic.
Novaradix Technology does not receive your Advertising ID or any personally identifying information from this process. We see only aggregated, anonymous performance reports such as total impressions and revenue.
Depending on your device and region, Google may also use Android's
Privacy Sandbox APIs (Topics and Attribution Reporting). The app
declares the AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID,
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS and
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION permissions for this purpose; they are
added by Google's advertising SDK.
Google's handling of this data is governed by its own policies: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses data from apps that use its services.
3. Consent for advertising (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent message from Google's User Messaging Platform before requesting its first ad. You choose whether to allow personalised advertising.
You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app. This option is shown only where consent management applies.
4. Information stored on your device
The app stores a small amount of data locally. It stays on your device, is not transmitted anywhere, and is removed when you uninstall the app.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| File paths of images you have exported | To show the “Recent edits” row |
| Filter presets you save | So you can reuse your own looks |
| A count of how many exports you have made | To limit how often a full-screen ad appears |
| Your watermark preference for Edit Replay reels | To remember your setting |
| Whether the advertising consent flow has completed | So you are not asked repeatedly |
Images you export are saved to your device's gallery in an album named Image Effect, and to the app's own folder. These are your files; you can delete them at any time using your gallery or file manager.
5. Permissions and why they are used
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Required to request and display ads. No other network use. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 10 and older) | To save your finished images and reels to the gallery. |
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and older) | Fallback for opening a photo on older devices. |
AD_ID and Privacy Sandbox permissions | Added by Google's advertising SDK for ad delivery and measurement. |
Photo access. On Android 13 and later, the app uses the
Android Photo Picker. It grants access only to the specific photo
you select, for that session — the app cannot browse your photo library and does
not request the broad READ_MEDIA_IMAGES permission.
Camera. Choosing “Camera” opens your device's own camera app to take a picture. Image Effect does not request camera permission and has no direct access to your camera.
6. On-device processing
Two components deserve specific mention because they might otherwise look like cloud services:
- Background removal uses Google ML Kit selfie segmentation, which runs as an on-device model supplied through Google Play services. Your photo is not uploaded for processing.
- Edit Replay renders your video locally on your device. The resulting video is saved only to your gallery, and is shared only if you choose to share it.
7. Children's privacy
Image Effect is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app displays advertising, we ask that a parent or guardian supervise use by a minor. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at novaradix@gmail.com and we will act on it.
8. Your choices and rights
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. You may reset the identifier or delete it entirely, which stops interest-based advertising.
- Opt out of personalised ads — in the same Android settings screen, or via the in-app consent options where applicable.
- Revoke photo access — because the app uses the Photo Picker, access ends with each selection; there is no standing permission to revoke.
- Delete your data — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored settings and preferences. Images you exported to your gallery remain until you delete them yourself.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Because we hold no personal data about you, most such requests should be directed to Google as the advertising data controller. You may still contact us and we will help where we can.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell personal information. Interest-based advertising may be considered “sharing” under the CPRA; you can opt out using the Android advertising settings above.
9. Data retention and security
Novaradix Technology does not operate servers that receive your photos or personal data, so there is no user data for us to retain or breach. Data handled by Google for advertising is retained in accordance with Google's own retention policies. Ad requests are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
10. Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google User Messaging Platform | Advertising consent | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play services / ML Kit | On-device background removal | policies.google.com/privacy |
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes or as legal requirements evolve. The “Last updated” date above will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be reflected in the app's Play Store listing. Continuing to use the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
